A minimalist approach has been used to balance this design, evidenced by the assymetrical weighting of the red border around the photograph, and the two small rectangles offset to the far right and bottom of the front cover. [KY]

Relation Prodesign # 50 Dec 2000/Jan 2001
This image was used in an article by Chris Mousdale entitled "digging for gold", about record cover design as a window on New Zealand culture.
Description Front cover; image and text. The front cover has a high contrast black and white photograph of a man smoking a cigar, wearing a black jacket and white shirt, and plucking petals off a daisy (she loves me, she loves me not). The photo has a greenish blue banner across the top with the band name in white and record title in black. Both photo and banner sit, off-centred to the left, in a red border. This in turn, sits against a grey background in a dark green border. The grey background has one black and one white rectangle on it. Both are offset towards the outside edge. The flat colour and sans serif typeface are in an 1980's modernist style. The design of this cover strongly references the de Stijl movement of early last century. This is shown in the combination of straight lines, rectangles, and primary colours mixed with neutrals (black, grey and white). [KY]
Description Back cover; text only. The back cover is in the same style as the front but without the photograph. The record company label appears in the lower right and information about copyright in the lower left. [KY]
