The Gardens are a park run by the Auckland Regional Authority. They are planted with a huge variety of native and exotic plants and trees. Children involved in the banner drew plants from the New Zealand and African areas of the park.
Relation.part of A series of workshops organised by the Auckland Primary School Art Advisory called 'Art in the Park'.
In the workshops groups of children from Auckland primary schools visited the park and worked with various invited artists in a variety of media.
Description The banner shows a patchwork of different images of stylised flowers and plants. It was screenprinted in black using positive and negative shapes cut out by the children in the workshop. Colours were hand painted on when the prints were dry and the border was decorated with stencilled shapes
