This card is part of a series of four Christmas cards that were created for TEAL by Nobby Clark. He recalls that TEAL commissioned them for one year only.
Description Cover. Image and text. The only text on the cover of this Christmas card reads; 'Tahiti on the Teal Coral Route'. The black and white illustration is centred in the middle of the card. There are three people in the illustration. In the foregound of the illustration is a seated woman playing the guitar. She is wearing a spotted blouse and has a lei around her neck. There is a hibiscus behind her ear. She is sitting in front of a screen. To the back left of this woman is another woman who is standing. She is carrying a tray that has fruit on it. She is wearing a dress that is patterned with flowers. She too has a hibiscus flower behind her ear and is wearing a lei around her neck. There is an open doorway behind the standing woman. Through the doorway hills, palm trees, sea and sand, boats and the sun can be seen. On the left side of the doorway a sailor is seated at a table. He is wearing a hat and a shirt that has a traditional sailor style collar. In his right hand he is holding up a glass, in his left is a lighted cigarette. The table in front of him is round and has a bottle, glass, open packet of cigarettes and banana on it. The complete illustration has been designed to create an oval shape. The text runs directly under the illustration. [AAF]
Description Card inner. Image and text. In the top left corner of the card is a poem by Rupert Brooke. Underneath the words 'Rupert Brooke' is a small illustration of a woman in indigenous clothing who is dancing. To the right of the woman and centred across the middle of the card are the words; 'A very merry Christmas and a happy New Year'. [AAF]
The illustration of the woman has also been used on the cover of the ticket folder designed by Clark. (nzgda_dp_nc _i_120).
