Description Front cover; image and text. The front cover photograph depicts a typical New Zealand Hotel Public Bar in the mid 1960's. Working class men rushed in as soon as they finished work to drink as much beer as possible before the 6pm closing time - this was known as the 6 o'clock swill. The image shows a group of men crowded around a red formica topped bar. The busy bartender wears a classic white shirt with rolled up sleeves. No-one is drinking anything except beer! The title is split across the top and bottom of the cover. The words "rugby" and "racing" are in a bold white italic serif typeface. The "and" and "beer" are in yellow serif. The "and" is lower case, light, and is hand generated non-aligned. The "beer" is capitals, hand generated cartoon style and non-aligned, with a black drop shadow and white bubbles of beer foam spilling from the horizontals. [KY]
Description Back cover; image and text. The back cover is text apart from a photographic image of the artist Rod Derrett to the mid left. He wears a smart black suit with a white shirt and black bow tie. His hair is slicked back and he wears serious spectacles, he is smiling and strummming his guitar with a friendly earnest expression. The record title and song list appear at the top aligned to the right, and the record label catalogue number to the top left. The main body of text is broken into two subjects - a supposed letter condemning Rod Derrett for poking fun at "The New Zealand Way of Life" signed "Cultured Kiwi". The second is tongue in cheek about Rod Derrett's background and the other band members. It uses a black serif typeface. [KY]
