Description Front cover; image and text. The cover features photography, illustration and text. Running vertically down the left side of the cover is an orange and black banner based on Maori Kowhaiwhai panels. Kowhaiwhai panels are traditional black, brown, white and red painted wooden rafters that form part of the inside of New Zealand Maori meeting houses. To the right of this is a photograph of The Howard Morrison Quartet. Howard Morrison is at the bottom of the cover. Behind and above him is the rest of the band. The whole band is smiling and waving. Above the band is a line of four small stars. Above this are the words 'The Fabulous' in a cursive script. In the top right corner of the cover are the words 'Howard Morrison Quartet' listed vertically. They are in brown text. Below this, in the middle right of the cover is a small, pale orange six sided shape. Within this shape is a small, highly stylised image of a male Maori wearing a kahu huru huru (cloak), piupiu (flax skirt) and carrying a taiaha (spear). The man is standing in front of a dotted horizontal line and behind him is a building; a waharoa. The waharoa is the entrance to a Pa, a traditional Maori fortified village. Underneath this image are the words; 'Presents Four Popular Maori Songs'. The record company logo is below this. At the bottom of the cover are the record label catalogue number, the playing speed and the words 'Extended Play Microgroove'. [AAF]
Description Back cover; text only. In the top right corner of the cover is the record label catalogue number. Below and to the right of this is the record company logo, underneath which is the name of the band in red text. Underneath the band name are the song titles. They have been split into side one and side two. The first side has been left aligned with the band name. The second side has been indented and starts just under the end of the first list. The right side of the cover contains body text that gives information about the growing popularity of the Howard Morrison Quartet. The date mentioned in this text is 1960. In the top right corner of the cover are the words; 'Extended Play Microgroove record'. Centered at the very bottom of the cover are the production details and copyright information. [AAF]
